Ladies Rule as Eva “Chic” Jiretorn Ships Final EMPC Event & Leaderboard

The 2024 European Mixed Game Championship (EMPC) was a huge success with records broken in every event in its second year at Card Casino Bratislava from March 12-16. The final day was something special with 143 entries battling it out in Event #8: €250 10-Game Mix in hopes of securing the final piece of hardware on the line.

It was Ladies’ Night in Bratislava as two of the most skilled mixed game players in Europe Eva “Chic” Jiretorn and Georgina “GJReggie” James were the last two players standing before Jiretorn earned the coveted trophy. This is not all as Jiretorn also catapulted to the top of the series leaderboard and was crowned the 2024 EMPC Player of the Series after this victory and also running deep in the €800 H.E.T.R.O.S. High Roller to push past €350 8-Game Main Event champion Samuel Perry.

Meanwhile, many new players headed to Card Player Casino for the start of the Poker North Masters including the opening battles of the €800 Heads-Up, a €120 satellite to the €800 Main Event, and Day 1a of the Main Event.

Jiretorn Takes One for the Ladies

The final event of the 2024 EMPC was a barn burner with Event #8: €250 10-Game Mix attracting a banner field of 143 entries creating a €30,516 prize pool to soar past the €25,000 guarantee. This was a new event on the schedule mirroring a similar structure usually reserved for high rollers battling in the $50,000 Poker Players Championship at the WSOP with the following 10 games in the mix:

  • 2-7 Triple Draw
  • PLO
  • Stud Hi-Low
  • Badugi
  • FLHE
  • No Limit 2-7 Single Draw
  • Stud
  • Omaha Hi-Low
  • NLHE
  • Razz

United Kingdom’s JJ Hazan was the first player on the rail in the money after finishing in 17th place for €365 while the final table was set after Germany’s Sascha Manns was ousted in eighth place for €990.

At this point, there were five men and two ladies, all with impressive mixed-game resumes still in the mix. However, the ladies ruled over the men as Eirik Kristiansen (third – €3,660), Event #7: €250 Lowball Draw Mix runner-up Hans Winther (fourth – €2,595), Barrie Dear (fifth – €1,985), WSOP Bracelet winner and Event #2: €250 High-Low Mix champion Jens Vortmann (sixth – €1,525), and Slovenian poker sensation Blaz Zerjav (seventh – €1,220) all hit the rail one-by-one.

Jiretorn was battling against Reggie for more than the title and the €8,586 top prize as the Player of the Series title was also on the line for Jiretorn. If Reggie won, she would still increase her payout and add a trophy to her collection after already locking up €5,495. However, €350 8-Game Main Event champion Samuel Perry also had a sweat as if Reggie won, he would win the leaderboard.

However, Jiretorn proved to be the star of the day and of the festival after defeating Reggie heads-up to win the title and the Player of the Series.
